“Current Use of RWD in Oncology and the Outlook for Genomic Database Infrastructure,” a contribution by Takaaki Mizuno, CEO of CLINIAL CO., LTD., together with Yuga Omichi and Hiroshi Nishihara, was published in the May 2026 issue of Igaku no Ayumi (Journal of Clinical and Experimental Medicine), Vol. 297, No. 6, pages 475–478.
The contribution appears in the special feature “Approaches to Medical Big Data and Real-World Data Research.” It covers the use of real-world data (RWD) in oncology and genomic databases in Japan, and outlines features of C-CAT and the PleSSision database, which has been built primarily around Keio University Hospital.
It introduces the perspective of selecting databases according to purpose when applying healthcare data to research and development.
